    Dear Mr Tudor,
My narcissist friend’s adult daughter was in bed sick the whole day … not once did he check up on her because heeee had a slight tummy upset .
If ever I bought up an ailment …. you could see the “glaze” go over his eyes as he could not give one iota!
When he ended up in hospital and as soon as he had awoken, his phone never left his hand, could barely wait to phone all and sundry fast enough ….. “I’m dying I’m dying” (even though he brought his health problem upon himself and he’s not telling anyone that, I’m the only one who knows ) His hospital stint is now his “trump card” and using the “pity ploy” and sucking it for all it’s worth. Two years down the track and it’s still going……. what a performance! He’s got everyone running around at his beck n call …….. except me …. boo hoo!
    Very appropriate piccie Mr Tudor

I was diagnosed with melanoma , after surgery all was ok. 8 months later we went to Jamaica As we were getting ready to go to dinner he kept bragging about his great tan . I had stayed in the shade. He mentioned how pale I was. I said yeah thought it was best to stay in shade cause of the cancer .
He replied , oh yeah I forgot about that .
I asked how in the world could you forget?
Guess who got defensive, you got it !!! What an idiot — mission accomplished. I got angry and hurt. He got fuel and felt smug

Here’s a true good one…. I fell down a flight of stairs, landed, head hit concrete. Honey ex takes me to emerge room. The nurse came in and the seat ex asked her to check HIS vitals first. Nurse gave him a very dirty look and ignored him!
My son and a few others think he nudged me down the stairs. I was still ignorant about his narc behavior so I believed he would NEVER PUSH me. Ha.
What a crazy marriage that was! Of course when I began to exercise my independence, he bolted!

This site has helped me alot! Thanks to all of you and a very great friend who turned me on to you.

  4. NarcAngel says:

I dont think this is limited to just Narcs………

      NarcAngel

      I agree

In retrospect, I can exactly pinpoint the time my devaluation began. It was when I started to have a serious health problem. In 2015 I was in and out of the hospital five times, and he came to see me there exactly once. By the time my problem was solved, it was all over in his mind. He just hadn’t found a replacement yet. When he did formally discard me (once she was firmly embedded), he wanted to be seen as a wonderful person because he hadn’t dumped me while I was sick. I ask you — how does a man with gout and a bad knee climb up on a pedestal that high?

    1. HG Tudor says:

By making you carry him there.

      1. RecoveringNarcoholic says:

Too true, HG. But this particular ski lift is closed.

  6. C★ says:

    a broken appliance is a useless appliance…

    1. Ali says:

not in this case. plenty of fuel from the resounding emotional “wait what?” or “what the heck do you mean? are you insinuating I’m faking???” or any of the other possible emotional responses we’d make… and if none, then possibly thought fuel… sigh

  7. Ali says:

LOL – there are no women on the internet – now make me a sandwich

in a more serious note, yes there were plenty of times I was ill and was still expected to run the house, and by run the house I mean cook, clean, deal with our child’s school, the homework, the grocery shopping and everything else as he sat on his behind and expected it to his specifications…

actually that was yet another one of his faux-pas that lead to my escaping him… but we won’t go into those details on here.

  9. stilldontknow says:

Who is saying this (“Stop being an […]”) – the complementary narcissist or the narcissist?

  10. Nat says:

You may laugh but it truly happened to me. I had my arm broken, was left in the town alone, no friends, no family, nobody to help me do stupid shopping. And he said is not coming because I am an attention seeker and he needs to go get his new armani suit.

  11. Windstorm2 says:

Closely paired with, “You think everything just revolves around you and your problems, don’t you?”

  12. AH OH says:

Get in the kitchen and bake me a pie.

  13. Narc affair says:

This one made me 😂…its true tho. You could be in a full body cast and a narc still thinks its all about them! Injury or illness makes not one difference in fact it angers them bc they lose attention.

  14. Yolo says:

    Okay….just hand me my crutches…☠☠🙊

I’ve been wandering in western Canada….. soaking up the incredible beauty of Gods creation…..yoho, banff and jasper national parks and Vancouver and Friday harbour in Washington state. Why did u think i changed my name? I noticed how i comment looks different…. my guess is oz made a switch or upgrade of sorts in the bigger scheme of things.
But…we all figure it out and adapt.
          Cheerio!….

          2. Findinglife11 says:

Indeed NA…. i am thoroughly enjoying life again… takes time and I’m not all where i want to be yet….. I wish this for all…
            Including yourself.
I am off for Colorado next week plus a lil yellowstone, mt Rushmore, crazy horse and badlands…. im bringing my entourage as wellllll… i am a wanderer! It does my heart good to broaden my kids worldview through travel. I am a big believer in mark twains quote…. “travel is fatal to bigotry, prejudice and narrow-mindedness.”

    2. Mary says:

OMG! Yolo, I almost sprayed the water I’m drinking out of my nose laughing so hard. Thanks a lot. 🙂

      1. Mary says:

That wasn’t worded properly. The water I’m drinking… Almost sprayed out of my nose. (As opposed to my original post which could incorrectly imply that I’m actually drinking water out of my nose.)

  15. Sues423 says:

Wow!! What an excellent phrase and picture to convey THAT point.
