This is really true! My ex made promises all the time and never really meant them.

Oh how I wish I had found this site last year. My ex-Narc’s lie was “You are never getting rid of me”, espoused during the seduction period.
Geyserempath, they are reading from the same script. I was told this, “I am not going anywhere. You are stuck with me. ” Yeah right!
Same, and when I tried to leave “you aren’t going anywhere” “you belong to me” “if I can’t have you, no one can”
Insatiable Learner…Mine also promised to get some little blue pills, but that didn’t happen either. Perhaps we should get them a different script?

You never — not once, not for one moment — felt bad about any of these false promises you gave, HG?
But then, I know the answer. (Why do I hold out hope for narcissists? But I know the answer to that as well).
“Hearing” your tone/seeing your interactions on this site — then having an emailing interaction with you just once — well, it has proven the point…narcissists can appear a certain way, but what is underneath is so very different. It’s so misleading — so hard to absorb — that the best of us can be fooled, despite all the head knowledge… it’s simply that the heart can override the mind. I expect you to feel what I do… Why can’t you?? Why can’t I change it?? That is what it comes down to.
