You can almost pick out all narcs by looking at their Social Media behaviour (I said almost). If you compare their behaviour to that of ‘normals’, you can see a huge difference.
Matrinarc and Nex will often not read my messages (although they are online), nor answer questions or respond at all. Sometimes they do, but it is as HG says, whenever they want, not because they should, it’s up to them. Narc boyfriend would do all kinds of abnormal things, he is the king of gaslighting and manipulation and social media is his playground. He is never one minute away from his phone.
Same With my Narc. His excuses were that at home he want to keep his phone away he would take break from it) as he has to use it extensively at work. At work he was busy thus he could not answer. Once I suspected him to have two mobiles or two sims but then he said that no, he has only one mobile. As on most weekends he would not answer anything. He was deciding when he wants and what he wants to answer.
I can’t usually tell. I have been involved with 2 and you couldn’t really tell by their social media. A lot of narcs are covert and aren’t necessarily all over social media. My last one I met in a fb group but his regular fb account looked completely normal.
Ok this one made me crazy!
Slowly but over time, he was on (but he swore he wasn’t), I’d see his last log on was 4am (he was asleep), he’d change his profile picture, then change it back (but he never did this I imagined it).
I have NEVER in my life, worried about social media with any ex apart from him.
He would actually call me a crazy, jealous, possessive pyscho!
I stopped questioning him.
I became numb to it. Deep down I knew I was right and over time I knew he was toying with me.
I can look back with clarity now – but at the time – I constantly thought why am I not good enough, why does he need to do this to me, my self confidence plummeted.

Gatekeeping in Hel (norse mythos, to be clear) is sort of a jail of its own accord, to be fair. Purgatory and all that.
I’m glad it was only an attempt. Life with one of these little snots is jail enough. Mine has been trying to frame me for fraud. They seem to get off on pulling wool over the eyes of the law. (Although so does the law, really. Bleh. That’s depressing.)
My ex went further by saying that he couldn’t have been active because he didn’t have the app!
