Brilliant. I enjoyed this immensely.
Fascinating comparison for me with regard to N vs empathic traits. The only statements named that resonate with my thought bubbles are those representing both empathic and narcissistic traits. I found it difficult to relate to the others at all.
Interesting HG, I usually avoid your YouTube videos….your voice still affects me in strange ways.
Great examples of how emotional thinking cons a person to react.
I may not feel hatred yet I have a serious pride issue. John would tell me pride before the fall…..it has also been a long time sense I had the desire to dump cold water in him for being right.
Sadly in my private life I see another’s pride is holding them back….I just hope it won’t be to late when they realize this.
Hello Twilight,
Could you elaborate on how Mr Tudor’s voice affects you please?
A Girl Is No-One
You know how it feels to be caress ever so gentle that leaves traces of sensation…..imagine that under your skin.
Depending on the tone he uses it can range from that to a scalpel blade being gently yet slowing cuttting the surface of ones skin, yet for me it feels under the surface of my skin. Torturous and painful.
Dear Mr Tudor,
I luvved the way you described our empathic and narcissistic comparisons
It hits a raw nerve, as I don’t think we wish to recognise any form of “narcissism” within ourselves ( as it associates with the narc)
Clearly we all do, but it’s the good normal healthy kind
You will definitely not move forward if you keep doing the same thing over and over and over again, expecting a different outcome
The “two””most “crucial” changes we “must” apply (controlling our emotional thinking and goso) are the hardest, yet imperative
I immediately went and looked in my “care” basket regarding the weasel ….nope nothing, completely empty, all out of cares and it will continue to remain empty 🗑
As always, your articulation, delivery and content was perfect
Thank you
Luv Bubbles xx 😘
Bubbles, I am absolutely compelled to tell you that your dry and wonderful sense of humour makes me laugh out loud every time!
Dear Sarah,
You’re so precious saying that…. thank you lovely one
You know that song ….
“Always look on the bright side of life” (that’s my motto) ….. along with plenty of hydralite and moisturiser (at my age n dryness I need all the help I can get) 🤣
Luv Bubbles xx 😘
Absolutely correct about seeing narcissism within ourselves. I have more unkind thoughts than I care to admit and feel like I must be a horrible person for it! My closest friend and I were so mean earlier in the week talking about something I told her we were going to have to go no contact with ourselves!
I’ve thought most of those things at different times and yes some of them were narcissistic thoughts, wanting him to suffer, because of my pride or jealousy or just complete anger.
HG, I just wanted to let you know that I’ve come so far with this now and changed so much, that I find a lot of it quite irritating and boring and can’t even be bothered with some of it.
That may not sound like a compliment to you HG, but it’s actually a huge compliment, if that makes sense ha ha . For example when I now read your conversations with the doctors which I find interesting I also find myself thinking who could be bothered listening to that crap, the same sort of round and round getting nowhere crap I listened to for nearly 4 years, I know that I could never do that again with anyone , I’ve just changed and woken up so much , that I have no desire whatsoever to help, support, fix, carry, put up with or listen to complete and utter draining nonsense. Now I may get caught out again and fall for another one but I don’t think it’s possible because I’m just not the same person. I don’t think it would take that long for me to GOSO again.
My boundaries have changed even with my family which has been very traumatic in some ways but I just can’t deal with this crap anymore. I have so little tolerance of it.
So maybe I have somehow got rid of some emotional thinking, I don’t know.
I will always follow your work and support you and try my best to spread the word and comment when I feel like it, but I do find a lot of narc stuff just ridiculous now and find myself just thinking I have zero tolerance for their word salad and gas lighting bla bla and wouldn’t even be bothered about proving my point , or trying to be right or trying to explain shit over and over again.
I would just be yeah ok bye bye .
I don’t know if any of this makes sense to you HG, but my point is that the fact that I care less about the stuff I read about on here, is due to your work.
It’s a contradiction but I know what I mean 🤔
I wish I’d known this stuff years ago, I could have worked on myself better when I was younger.
You are welcome.
This really helps. Thank you.
Thank you HG
I have just finished listening and very much enjoyed the way you explained how the empathetic and narcissistic traits can work together to control the way we think and act! In listening, I realized some of the traits that I have both empathetic and narcissistic. I’m going to be completely honest, what I found to be extremely interesting is that it is my narcissistic traits and not my empathetic that get me into the most trouble when it comes to emotional thinking. I would of never expected that! What an eye opener. Thank you again HG.
Watching James Cordon hahahahahahahaha
Brilliant!!!! Very helpful, HG! Logic thinking based on the knowledge and insight that you provide us with is the only way out.
Can’t wait to listen!!
Hello, H.G.Tudor.
Thank you very much for uploading your titles. Fantastic as always. like thumb up.
Emotional thinking is our enemy.
And as a Spanish saying goes.
To the enemy that flees silver bridge:
It means to facilitate the exit of an enemy, competitor or any individual or thing that can cause damage. Not clinging, letting go … facilitating this.
Thank you HG
Just finished listening and by pointing out how BOTH the narcissistic and empathic traits are corrupted by emotional thinking (ET) improves my understanding exponentially. Absolutely brilliant! Empaths do have narcissistic traits and it helps to recognize them and I think we (narcissists and empaths) are more alike, in some ways, than we realize.
I believe that listening to that answers the question. Thank you, HG!
I have a question: how can one tell the difference between emotional thinking and logical thinking utilizing knowledge from impact of previous experience?
If it offend the first golden rule of freedom, it is emotional thinking.
Thank you, HG! That is very clear and helps differentiate!!
I originally was going to respond with a “but…” but then realized that that was part of my emotional thinking to rationalize certain things. Thank you so much for the clarity!
You’re welcome
Great post HG! I love how pointed out both the empathic and narcissistic traits that could keep us from GOSO. I always find myself going back and forth between the two. This was very helpful. But you could have left poor James Corden out of it😆
Thank you.
Have no pity for that supreme helmet.
What’s frightening is that most people watch J Corden when they are sober. Lol.
A terrible thing indeed.
Still, ending up watching J Corden after 10 pints of beer seems a better option than say ending up in bed with the wrong person, isn’t it?
Both cause irreparable damage to you. Avoid.
Yes, just like ET and the 10 pints of beer.
He looks familiar to me but I don’t watch tv. Why is he so bad?
Claire,
Re: James Corden
“He looks familiar to me but I don’t watch tv. Why is he so bad?”
Right?!
See, HG, you’re adding attention to his career here, lol!
I agree Claire (I don’t watch cable television myself) I knew JC from a small voice over…now I can’t even pretend that he doesn’t exist – he just pops up all over the place now…including Narcsite!
Do you get a cut from James Corden’s agent, HG?
HG & Lou – LOL!
I’m glad I saw the above comment who cares! I’m having an issue getting stuff on WordPress. I’m going to have to actually use my brain and deal with this technical situation. My life has been awesome turning off cable/tv. I miss out on some things but overall I just don’t have time. This James guy certainly can’t be something I’m missing out on!
Claire,
“I’m having an issue getting stuff on WordPress. I’m going to have to actually use my brain and deal with this technical situation.”
WordPress sucks at times. The android app for it is cool; I’m kicking myself for taking it off my phone (to make room for other stuff) because it makes direct replying easier.
“My life has been awesome turning off cable/tv.”
Agreed.
“This James guy certainly can’t be something I’m missing out on!”
Well, like I said, for someone that HG detests he certainly makes reference to him often enough – and I like bugging him about it because before Narcsite I only ever knew JC as the voice of ‘the little brown mouse’ in a favourite children’s movie “The Gruffalo”…I had no face or name to match the voice (nor did I care). Now, Claire, you know far more than you needed to know about JC – as you said – but I just had to share the pain – haha!
I have half dealt with WordPress.. It’s a pain in the ass.
