Have always been a fan of Will Smith. Seemed like an easy going very likeable guy. But Wow. On the one hand I agree with him for sticking up for his wife, on the other hand I don’t agree with the assault but definitely some choice words would have been appropriate. He ruined the biggest night of his career, receiving the biggest and highest accolade and accomplishment of his career. His wife, where do you start? Her attitude in the second video shown of Will hitting Chris was to sit there laughing. Inappropriate response I thought. I also got the impression that she was glad Will hit Chris but also that Will ruined his own night. I could be wrong but that is the impression I got. Jada seems in some ways lovely but in other ways toxic. I felt sorry for Chris Rock. He said a few years ago that he can’t and doesn’t see/understand social ques. Yes he was out of line to say what he said, but he did not deserve to be hit by Will Smith for it. He took the high road and continued on presenting and showed what a bigger man he is. Will appears to me to be the ‘Harry’ of the relationship and Jada the ‘Meghan’. Best, DB
OMG lol I come back and read just this post and have to go buy more stuff. Not that I am complaining, it’s that HG does create interesting and riveting material.
I didn’t know a whole lot about Will Smith before the slap. He was one of those actors i found boring. I never watched Fresh Prince of bel air.
It does sound like his marriage is anything but ideal. He apparently was laughing initially at the joke. Then when he had seen his wife’s reaction he switched to upset. I’d guess he could be a midranger, but also possible he is a victim in a marriage with an abusive wife. Possibly his reaction was damage control and avoiding the wrath from her afterwards for laughing at Chris potshot joke.
My first reaction was of respect the fact he stood up for his wife, but the more i learn about their marriage i’m not so sure. He definitely should not have hit Chris even if he was baited to. Apparently this isn’t the first time Chris has tried to trigger Will. The two hate each other.
Then you have conspiracies that it was all set up to increase Oscar ratings.
I’ll go have a listen…
Cmum, now there are rumors going around that Chris Rock and Jada Pinkett also had an “entanglement” while working on the Madagascar movies. If its true, that would make a little more sense why Will Smith was so upset.
Hi Leigh, it seems like Jada has had entanglements with so many men that it’s really hard for WS to tell which one or who. He can’t be smacking everyone that might have had an affair with her.

When Mr. Tudor first started this analysis, my first thought was Will is broken and he is a mere puppet and tool for Jada.
After hearing that Chris and Jada may have been entangled as well, I thought, oh, maybe it’s more than that. Maybe cuckolded Will decided to stand up for himself. It still was wrong but it makes a little more sense.
Ooooh! I was so close! There’s one Cadre I thought he was for sure but he doesn’t have any.
This series was riveting! I absolutely loved the way that throughout the wealth of information that you summoned and used here, you explained how the behaviour could be either that of a narcissist or an empath’s response. It was fantastic to see the creation of this empath unfolding as I went along.
I just find it sad that he should have so much Martyr because it means he’ll have a hell of a time leaving his wife; but since he has a strong super element, he could go supernova and finally decide to sever that toxic bond. Or bondage, to be more accurate.
