New Year New Prey
As you read this you may be holding your head in your hands. Some of you may just be nursing a hangover although others of you will be holding your heads out of despair at another bout of maladjusted behaviour that you have been subjected to from our kind. It is a New Year and with that I should imagine that you are making your resolutions and vowing that this time things will change. Whereas other sites may be espousing the virtues of a revolutionary diet or unique exercise regime, the benefits of a January which is alcohol free or yes this year you will learn to speak Spanish, those matters need not concern us. Perhaps you will be resolving to put in place some of the knowledge that you have learned from my writing here and in my books. If so, you are sailing towards exciting horizons. Others of you may be swearing that enough is enough and you are going to leave and this time you will not go back. Go on, make that vow to yourself and see if it lasts any longer than your dedication to the treadmill.
My many years of practising my dark art has made me most familiar with the injection of resolve that comes with the first of January. You have dusted away the embers of the dying year and have sought to erase the pain and humiliation that marred much of the passing year of your life. The abuse, the denigration and the savage treatment you have been the victim of will loom large in the mind but you have found a spark of strength from somewhere, there is the flickering flame of optimism that has begun to burn inside of you. You declare that you will not allow our toxic breath to blow this flame out. We will not extinguish it with a smothering boot or the application of freezing cold water to your plans. This time it will be different. All this hope. All this optimism. I can almost taste it.
As one can detect a change in the air with the change of seasons so it is the same with the arrival of a New Year. The empath emerges from his or her slumber and stretches, keen to really shine in the year ahead and to find their self once more. They are keen to cast aside the poisonous cloak that was draped around them, lift the crown of thorns and strip away the clinging tendrils. Such enthusiasm is most laudable. Guess what? You are not the only ones. This year my reach shall be extended and my charm magnified. My sweet, sweet words of seduction shall fall with practised ease upon the willing ears of the supplicants that I have selected. My dark eyes will fix on the appliances that line-up, brimming with that potent fuel. So many appliances to connect to, so much fuel that must be harvested. I will ensure that this year my fuel will be the best I have ever known, I shall soar to new achievements and have eyes shining with admiration every where I go. My foes will lie crushed beneath my booted feet, the cloven hooves concealed from their broken gaze as I breach new boundaries, violate new pastures and conquer fresh virgin territory. Your hope and dedication only serves to spur me on to achieve even greater things in this year ahead.
For every promise of progress that you all make rest assured that I am doubling up on my manipulative strength. When you swear you will break free, I pledge that I will imprison. Every time you assert your desire to escape from my grip, I will tighten it further. You seek to shine a light in your attempt to be a beacon of hope. I will appear and snuff out those beams of light with the malice that surrounds me.
You can exist without having to place your arms around the world. I cannot exist without my fuel. You have a choice. I have none. I am destined to walk this earth forever in my unceasing quest for fuel. Whilst you take delight and solace in so many things, I am beholden to my task of securing fuel from so many that I encounter. They say that after toil comes rest ; not for me and my kind.
So, make those resolutions, dust off your pledges and polish up your good intentions. It is a New Year and the battle for new prey has just been joined.

After the recent event in the US in Las Vegas where a soldier on leave caused his Tesla Cybertruck to explode outside a hotel owned by Trump, Elon Musk found it more important to move quickly to investigate the explosion in order to deny that it was caused by a technical fault in the cars his company manufactures. He tweeted about the stainless steel build of his Tesla reducing the blast. It appears that this was more important to him than to show concern about the people killed and injured.
Some questioned Musk’s ‘help’ in the support of law enforcement investigators. They questioned how and why Musk had access to security footage of car-owners charging their cars.
It made me think that mandatory military service should be required from arrogant and entitled billionaires like Musk and corrupt would-be presidents like Trump. They are the ones who need a “wake-up call” as the soldier who killed himself wrote in a letter found by investigators.
… and surprise, surprise, Trump avoided military service five times in the 1960s when he would have been at the age where other young men of a similar age were drafted to serve in Vietnam. Apparently, Trump evaded the draft five times. According to some sources, this was not uncommon among the sons of wealthy families.
In order to understand the people who they are itching to govern and control, the likes of Musk and Trump should be required to serve in the military as part of their capability to govern and/or own multibillion-dollar businesses.

1) How would making them serve in the military impact upon supposed arrogance, entitlement, and corruption? I’m setting aside the question of whether they have those qualities.
2) As I understand currently, the letter cited the explosion itself as the “wake-up call”, the soldier had PTSD, and he had no animus towards Trump. Of course, the investigation is ongoing. Do Trump and Musk need such waking up, or just billionaires and politicians in general?
3) How would military service have helped Trump and Musk “understand the people who they are itching to govern and control”? What evidence is there that they don’t understand people?
4) Who is in the group “the likes of Musk and Trump”?
5) Would you include women in the draft?

Interestingly, as I write this, I am watching a press conference held at the US White House with Trump and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu.
The bumbling, generalising, subjective future-faking assertions by Trump are truly astounding. His unsubstantiated subjective ‘plans’ (which are not plans at all but rather far-fetched manipulative hype) are both astounding and anxiety-inducing.
To answer your questions:
1) By saying that Trump and Musk should serve in the military before making orders and controlling others, I meant that there should be a pre-requisite for those entering politics with ambitions for high office. This pre-requisite is that they should be of sound character with regard to leading those who serve in the military. This would make such politicians more aware of what military action and leadership actually entails.
Trump evaded military service *five* times. To me, this indicates that he is deeply unpatriotic and corrupt. These traits indicate his arrogance and entitlement, and also indicate his gross hypocrisy and lack of accountability with regard to being a law-abiding and patriotic American citizen. As such, he completely lacks integrity and is not of sound character; certainly not of the kind of character to lead others who do serve in the military.
2. Yes, Trump and Musk absolutely need such waking up. This question is partly answered in my answer to No. 1.
The military service would act like a pre-requisite to leadership. It would be a form of qualification that adds to the knowledge and experience required in order to lead others adequately.
I don’t see how living in private, secure luxurious and safe ivory towers with all amenities and material needs at their fingertips gives politicians and billionaires any knowledge or experience of what they are actually ordering others to enter into.
And as for Musk and other billionaires…
Trump is gathering billionaire CEOs around him in a kind of cabal of extremely wealthy oligarchs. This cabal is essentially a group of ruthless businessmen supporting each other in their aims of furthering their power and wealth.
Before billionaire businessmen enter the White House’s inner rooms and liaise with the nation’s political leader, they should be qualified to do so. They have business knowledge and experience. They do not have military qualifications or political credentials. Thereby they do not have the pre-requisite knowledge to support a political leader in terms of political or military leadership.
3. I have answered this question by answering 1. and 2.
To clarify…
In any profession, qualifications and relevant experience is required before a person can practice. A homeowner would not allow or pay just anyone to fix their plumbing; or build them a staircase; or even paint their eaves. The homeowner would employ a qualified plumber, or a qualified carpenter or a painter with credentials and experience.
A dentist would not practice on patients without having professional qualifications. A lawyer can only practice law once he or she has become qualified and passed exams. And this is the case for the vast majority of professions.
Yet, a man who evaded military service five times is now at the pinnacle of leadership who can order others to enter wars??? This is patently ridiculous to me.
4. Again, I think I have answered this question in my answers so far.
In essence, it relates to relevant qualifications and demonstrated experience. It also relates to demonstrated and life-long character.
5. Yes, I would include women with regard to my answers from 1 to 4.
By the way, I have not mentioned a ‘draft’. As I have said from my initial comment, those with ambitions to enter politics and aim for high office would be required to serve in the military. This does not equate to all citizens across the board being required to do military service.
Both Musk and Trump are narcissists, WN. Military service would make them more compassionate people. It’d likely make them steelier and more dangerous.

Yes, I agree, both Musk and Trump are narcissists.
There are narcissists in every profession. In every profession, qualifications and experience do not make practitioners “more compassionate”. Qualifications and experience do make them more accountable and answerable to their subordinates though.
If the leaders in any profession fail in their undertakings as leaders, their failures impact others, although not necessarily to the extent of life and death consequences or full-scale destruction of property and high-stakes dangerous weaponry.
Having said that, in industries where there are life and death consequences, like say, excavation, controlled demolitions, high-rise building construction, and armed security to name a few such professions, there are very high standards of safety and qualified expertise.
Do the high standards of safety and qualified expertise make the practitioners “steelier and more dangerous”?
This question makes me think that “steelier and more dangerous” are very amorphous terms.
Imagine that a controlled demolition team was described as “steely and dangerous”. Would this description assure those living nearby that the controlled demolition was going to be carried out properly. You may as well send out a bask of crocodiles to carry out the demolition. A group of crocodiles on land is steely and dangerous too.

I agree with your opinion but I would take it a step further that in todays world all youth should do compulsory service unless they fall in exceptions.
Interesting to note: AI was used to bomb the Tesla at a Trump hotel. A techie making a point.
And as we speak the courts won’t delay sentencing of Trump. Could we have our first President in jail by the inauguration? How sad if so for the USA. And at the same time President Carter is buried.
On a side note: LA is on fire. Trump blames Newsom. I blame climate change and agree with Trump on Newsom.

I don’t think all youth should do military service. It is the height of hypocrisy to me that ALL of a population should be required to serve in the military while those elected to be political leaders do not have the same requirement. That is ludicrous.
It’s akin to saying that all citizens should be required to know how to drill their own teeth, however the dentist they visit doesn’t need to be qualified. It makes absolutely no sense at all.
Every time I listen to Trump, I am reminded of his sweeping generalisations, his inane bluster and future-faking nonsense. When he describes an entire population as “very bad people” it makes me cringe and I can’t believe an orange clown is the leader of a powerful nation.
As the saying goes, even a broken clock happens to be correct twice a day.
Trump is a loose cannon. If his loose cannon balls happen to hit someone you don’t agree with (i.e. Newsom) that doesn’t mean that Trump being a loose cannon is somehow justified.

Regarding Musk, your request is a little bit ridiculous, he is a risk taker and made decisions in his life which turned out to be the right ones (clearly not decisions we or Joe average would take, but that is the point), the way he governs his businesses, sure, I don’t agree and probably I would not last very long but everyone has a choice to leave.
Therefore I see no point or merit in your request.
