H.G. : you say Lucy won’t ever acknowledge her crimes as her narcissism won’t let her. This seems to be confabulation. She “ rewrites history” then believes it. She believes her own lies. This assumes amnesia too. A DID. Or dissociation. But how is it that they can do this great feat yet go into a prison population and to lose their grandiosity, to become humble and compliant and adapting to reality in order to survive. Lots of studies showing how narcs change in prison. We also see it when police arrive due to their violence. All of a sudden they are a calm civil gent. They lie but it’s obvious it’s intentional lies. Perhaps they just choose to believe their own stories to avoid responsibility to maintain the fragile mask. But somewhere they know the truth. There are no better blind then those who won’t see. Agree? But if in prison if you adopt this stance, you chose to not acknowledge your actions to choose grandiosity, you could die. The psychopaths lining the walls won’t accept it. So you choose to keep silent over your actions and hide the mask. It might not go away but the aggressive in your face , rewriting of history to avoid blame or a dent to your grandiosity is downplayed or hidden. How? If not aware, how narcs change behaviors in prison. If they can control it there or with police then it seems they can be aware and control it everywhere. What am I missing?
