I listened to that interview as well. I found it very interesting and the interviewer asked some very insightful questions.

Masterful as always in this interview HG and delighted for it to be with someone clearly invested in your information and dedicated to bringing it to others. Really looking forward to the follow-up.

    Loved it.

I think the discussion around highlighting narcissistic behaviours that are often attributed to something else, plus the question of how people can be educated about narcissism on a large scale was particularly valid.

You come across so well in interview, you explain so well, I just wish you were on a bigger platform. A BBC documentary, a Radio 1 interview. Something that reaches a huge number of people in one hit. Something that opens debate.

You could collide with Piers! Guarding your identity hinders this though. Although, with some creativity it isn’t insurmountable. Maybe as momentum increases, personal circumstances change and the legacy takes on a life of its own, these things will become possible. I hope so.

In the meantime, that was an excellent interview in my humble empath opinion.

    1. HG Tudor says:

      Thank you.

Excellent interview, HG. I am glad you are touching on the link between cults and narcissists because that’s something I have often thought about. Jim Jones, Keith Raniere, L Ron Hubbard, David Miscavige, more lately QAnon, all reek of narcissism and I think it’s incredibly important to make people more aware so they can avoid being sucked into these situations. More people need to realize they can be victims of narcissism even when they do not directly interact with the narcissist. And I think you are the best person to convey this information.

I have been watching the docuseries on Scientology recently from Leah Remini and it’s heartbreaking that so many empaths just thought they found an organization that was doing so much good in the world, and yet their whole lives were stolen from them, their families ripped apart, and now they are endlessly stalked and harassed. It’s all very fascinating, but also so very sad. If more people understood narcissism, I bet these cults would not be able to seduce and control as many people as they do. Thank you, HG for being a voice of wisdom in the world.

You are most welcome Fox, I am pleased you enjoyed listening. The next interview with Doug will take place on 8th January 2021.

      1. fox says:

Very exciting. Thank you, HG. I will mark it on my calendar.

  5. Fiddleress says:

Thank you so much for posting this interview here, I loved listening to it. I am really interested in the cult phenomenon, for some reason (though I never came anywhere near one).

Thank you also for explaining that the LOCE can occur quite separately from the parental environment. I hope it will help more people understand that the non-narcissist parent(s) are not necessarily at fault, having stood by letting the LOCE happen without trying to protect the child. The (non-N) parents of narcissists don’t need that guilt. That torture.
I watched a documentary about the parents of an underage (17) rapist and murderer, and they talked about the guilt that was heaped on them, and the suspicion that they must have been horrendous parents, from the justice system, the psychologists, and of course society at large. Turns out the son came from a loving family, no break-ups/divorce, no abuse. No recognisable explanation. The expert psychiatrists didn’t even detect a mental illness in the son, who may be a narcissist (he showed no emotional empathy whatsoever, and no remorse.).

    Just, thank you.

You are welcome Fiddleress, I am pleased you found it interesting.

I love love love this interview, though I worried the whole time about Doug getting lung cancer. First of all, the interviewer was very well documented; he was familiar with all your work in different venues: articles, videos, books. He was also emotionally involved in your teaching due to his personal circumstances, therefore, he asked relevant questions that most empaths and/or victims of narcissists always wonder about. Second, the interview managed to organize itself from the most general (I.e.: governments, power, control) to the specific (latest elections and candidates, work environment, intimate relationships). Memorable quotes I have written down: “there’s a lot of false information, but it didn’t click until I found yours. You saved my life.” (it sets the difference between the blurry information provided by all sorts of charlatans versus the only one that really saves you from the pattern of narcissistic addiction: HG Tudor’s. How many of us have uttered the same words: “you saved my life”?). “I can’t believe I’m talking to you right now. I’m sure you get that a lot” (talks about your accessibility despite your increasingly demanding commitments because of your stellar work). “The epsilon semimorons” (your customary humor, always welcomed). Finally, the platinum statement: “Children need to be educated about narcissism.” BRAVO.

    1. HG Tudor says:

Thank you SP, it is gratifying that as a longer term reader you found much in the interview that was of interesting and edifying. Good to read.

      1. Sweetest Perfection says:

I value form together with content. In every interview, I enjoy the different interviewers’ approaches and your delivery of the information. I felt Doug was very similar to many of us here with all the excitement for talking to you in person and his knowledge of your work because he needed it in his life as supposed to because he just had to do the interview. I can’t wait for the second part!

    PART 2 of comment….
Interesting fact about the ‘lineage’ of narcissism. Hmm. My family, can be traced back to 1250s (originating fro Scotland). An ancestor of mine was classed as someone who was “not fit” because he had symptoms that history considered as “not well” (this is hundreds of years ago. Hundreds). Was it autism? Was it narcissism? Dunno. Either way, I do not see it as a “bad” thing. Just misunderstood. Like me.

You mentioned about educating narcissism to children / at school – this is exactly & partly why I wanted to share the BBC programme ‘Is This Coercive Control’. How the fk can we even get this ‘education’ in schools if narcissists are in the way in the first place? It is not about ‘child abuse’ – it is about moving those narcissists in ‘positions’ of authority to one side – it is not as if we can “swipe left”……

I agreed when you were asked about ‘child abuse’ by someone in a comment to you. Because this is another whole ‘subject’ in which there are Laws in place and social services in place. BUT. Education of narcissism needs to be placed in position first. And Understood. And it is a different whole ‘ball’ game when it comes to educating children about narcissim. Why do you think I asked if ie Narc Tales 1 & 2 could be put into moving, possibly animated pictures? This was along the lines of educating narcissism – to children and also people who have less concept of understanding ie people with learning disabilities….

Dazed But Not Confused = The guy interviewing you, is also ‘dealing’ with getting your response on ‘trauma’ in childhood, this interview gave him some insight towards his own upbringing – he handled it well on screen.

Bloody Hell, HG. A brilliant video. Caused me to Stop and Think. Once again. HG = 1, Asp Emp = + 1.01 (because of more empowerment & knowledge, thank you x).

    1. HG Tudor says:

You are welcome Asp Emp, I am pleased you found it helpful and I appreciate your candid feedback.

      1. Asp Emp says:

Thank you for your response, HG.

  9. Christopher Jackson says:

    Thanks hg for sharing this

    1. HG Tudor says:

      You are welcome CJ.

  10. Asp Emp says:

I read this with much interest because it offered various ‘directions’ of information.

But. Bloody Hell, HG. You have no idea…. what you have created me to think and feel…. purely because of….

You mentioned empaths would not do what narcissists do in relation to ‘cults’. This was a confirmation ‘point’ to me – as I set up a charity for people like me. Unfortunately, one of the trustees is a narcissist. Two of the trustees are not (including myself here). The narcissist trustee was in it for the purpose of ‘status’ and ‘facade’ that he is a good guy. But FAILED to ‘deliver’ as a trustee is supposed to do. FFS. Originally there was another trustee who ‘resigned’ but they were in fact a narcissist (most likely a Lesser) themselves and did not have the skills I possess, yet they demanded the ‘chair’ position but would have failed dismally at that. Looking back and now learning what narcissism is about and the fact that 95% of narcissists don’t know what they are – they are effectively assuming they are people with either aspergers or autism. Now, I have done quite a bit of analysing of narcissism / autism / empath – and I wondered, wondered, not defined, whether all these come under one “umbrella” and whether this is where the DMS5 has not clarified or been classed correctly as per narcissism / autism – empaths are not even on it.

I noted with interest that you mentioned ‘clients’ with narcissism – certainly there are people like that. They are given an ‘answer on a plate’ but do not ‘accept’ it – I have had one person who was getting support from 5 different sources and still remained that the ‘support’ was not there. This was a mother of a diagnosed adult son (two sons & a husband – of aspergers) and I ‘called them out’ then I was “silent treated” etc. This was voluntary support that I was giving to this narcissist.

I stopped providing the support because I was physically unwell and 8 months later, I suffered the heart attack – and never bothered to volunteer on the charity since. Maybe learning about narcissism since has made me see what was really going on…… read on, first….

I am not confused, HG. I am questioning – not you – the whole “DSM5” business and the system that has been ‘selected’ to “cover” all of this……

That is why I approach (or try to!) things in the way I do and why I come across as someone who is not a ‘lackey’ to systems that appear to be ‘hog-wash’ because they DON’T WORK…..

Right, I am getting so ‘fired up’ about all of this and I am damned if I am going to lie on the fkg floor like a dog and “submit” to crap and fake bureaucracy ….. so, I am prepared to use what ‘energy’ I have available to be out to use that will serve people correctly and without any b**ls**t. I am so done with ‘brainwashing’ and b*lls*itting of this world and if I have to re-do the original ‘aims and objectives’ without it impacting on my own personal ‘Prime Aims’, bring it on and I need the direction to go to get this quagmire sorted out. This ‘good’ trustee will help as well. The other one will be struck off and someone else worthy will be taken on.

I am only haflway through the video……. FFS.

    1. HG Tudor says:

An impassioned response Asp Emp, thank you for sharing your observations.

      1. Asp Emp says:

Thank you for your words and also for reading, HG.

  11. lickemtomorrow says:

Thoroughly enjoyed this interview. It was very well done on the part of the interviewer and HG your answers were succinct and enlightening as always. I especially like the way you provide examples, both here in your written work and in these interviews. It’s something people can really connect with and enables them to get an insight that something purely academic would not. Top notch interview on your part, HG. Much appreciation again that you are willing to do what you do and provide the relief you provide to those affected. Doug is one among many.

    1. HG Tudor says:

Thank you LET, I am pleased you enjoyed listening.

      1. lickemtomorrow says:

        I did 🙂

  12. WhoCares says:

I love when you do interviews HG.

I particularly appreciated the part in this one where you expand on LOCE and mentioning the importance of educating young people.

    1. WhoCares says:

I also appreciated the interviewer’s interest in cults and your responses to his questions. Although, I would have enjoyed more on that particular subject – I imagine that (hopefully) you will address more in the series you intend to do on this topic.

      1. HG Tudor says:

Indeed, WC, an hour soon passes. I have confirmed to Doug that I am content to undertake a further interview and this will take place in January. I am very busy in December, those minions in the workshop very much need to feel some stick being put about.

        1. WhoCares says:

I am glad to hear you’re planning a second interview with Doug.

One reason I find the subject of cults interesting is because it is such an extreme example of a narcissistic ensnarement. Because, despite what I went personally through, I still find myself shaking my head and wondering things like: how does one allow their body to be tattooed/branded with someone else’s initials (as in the case of NXIVM) as a group phenomenon?
At the same moment I am aware that someone else, if they knew my whole story, might sit there shaking their heading saying, how did you allow him to do that ______(fill the blank) to you..? And even if someone believes a victim’s story, internally, if the listener hasn’t been through it themselves, may be wondering how someone becomes so efficiently ‘duped’? I like the cult examples because they essentially are the same dynamic, but are more blatant in highlighting the key aspects that pave the way for the ensnarement to occur.

    2. HG Tudor says:

I am always pleased to do them and particularly when it is evident the interviewer has embraced my work and lexicon.
