Hi KK, have you bought the book? When you say ‘theories’, are you asking where they sit on the Narcissism Spectrum, or about the individual in general? I found the story interesting.

    1. KitKat says:

I propose the same to you:

To HG, people and objects are synonymous.
What if his writing reflects this, in both directions?

I have read the book. I will re-read it and see if my original perceptions on it have changed since I commented on it back then.

As you do so, read it with the mindset that it’s a metaphor for something….perhaps spyware programmed by nonother than The Talented HG Tudor

KitKat, “spyware programmed” amused me 🙂

Invented? Written? Coded? Haha, I don’t know what terminology to use. But yes, one of the early ones he worked on.

          3. KitKat says:

Maybe spyware isn’t the correct term. A way of hacking accounts, computers, cells, security cameras, GPS, etc, etc.

            Anyway, just my take.

I re-read it and my original thoughts on the book remain similar (back then and now).

Everything about the article is literal? There’s nothing that you would deem metaphoric?

Does anyone have theories about Alastor?

    1. A Victor says:

      Hi KitKat,
She is someone that HG rescued in some way, so she’s indebted to HG, and she has certain skills that come in handy to him at times. I believe her skills include sleuthing, finding out information, and being invisible or unmemorable while doing it.

        1. A Victor says:

Yes, what if? Interesting thought. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t in this case, but maybe. Now I’ll be looking at all his articles a bit differently!

          2. A Victor says:

            No, not this one.

          3. A Victor says:

Sorry, answered the second question previously. My answer to the first is yes, this one is literal.

          4. annaamel says:

Perhaps the term ‘appliances’ is metaphorical.

          5. A Victor says:

Well, yes, I would say so. I am an appliance from HG’s perspective, but not in my reality…
