Knowing the Narcissist : The Narcissist´s Desiderata

Go create the noise and haste

And remember what cruelty there is in silence

As far as possible never surrender

Be on good terms with all in the façade

Speak no truth often and wildly

And listen to nobody

They are dull and ignorant

And have no story

Embrace loud and aggressive persons

They are fuel to the spirit

If you compare youself with others

You will become envious and jealous

But always be the greater person than them

Exaggerate your achievements and always plan

Cultivate interest in your career, never be humble

Falisfy your posessions, keep appropriating fortunes

Exaggerate accomplishments in your business affairs

For our world is ripe for trickery

Do not be blind to virtue

Many empaths strive for high ideals

And everywhere is full of fuelling opportunities

Be someone else

Especially you must feign affection

Cynically exploit the notion of love

For in the face of dwindling fuel supplies

It is reliable and necessary

Take kindliness for yourself over the years

Gradually causing the surrender of all things to you

Nurture strength of manipulation to defend you in sudden treachery

Create distress with your dark imaginings

Their fears are born of fatigue and loneliness

Exercise a ruthless discipline

Be focused for yourself

You are the centre of the universe

The tallest of trees and the brightest of stars

You have every right to rule here

And it should now be clear to you

That your plans unfold as they should

Therefore, be a god

Whatever you conceive rule as your own

And commandeer their labours and achievements

Maintain their confusion to keep hold of their soul

With all your sham, skulduggery and breaking of dreams

Create a false beautiful world

Be powerful

Strive to be the powerful.

    Wear Sunscreen.
    Mary Schmich / Baz Luhrmann
    Far better than Ehrmann.

    1. Jordyguin says:

Anna, you crack me up, lmao!!

Imagine Baz Luhrmann doing an HG Tudor Biopic! Epic! Though Ridley Scott is actually the first choice…

Anna, I always forget to ask; what instruments do you play? And what genre do you compose?

(I play the piano and it’s film and classical)

Aren’t you from Germany? Which part?

      1. Anna Plyance says:

        Jordyguin,
I would like to see HG in his biopic, are there any where the main character plays himself? An actor might do for an audience consisting of strangers, but I think we would want the real deal.
I do not really do much composing, just some arranging from time to time, so you will have to write the parts of the score HG has not already written. HG, which pieces did you have in mind for your film?
Mostly I play (piano, organ, trombone), sing and order other singers around.
I am indeed from Germany, but I would prefer to leave it at somewhere in the middle. Which part are you from, if you are comfortable sharing it?

        1. Jordyguin says:

I say give AI a couple more years and it can produce a full blown motion picture. HG could play himself in that way. In all stages. Every aspect could be 100% accurate. All characters and the venues could be the real ones because he would pick them from his memory and actual existence. Scan, photograph, film it and give AI to process and so on. Soundtrack wise it’s just wow to what HG already has composed and arranged, listening to all the pieces here and there and the Ultra Soundtracks 1-3 or the “For Your Education” announcement series. Cherry at the top would be of course a singing piece with our beloved Ultra voice! One can dream😋  You order other singers around?! That’s funny. Are narcissists amongst them? Do they listen? How do you make them? Before, it was Bavaria, Munich. Now I’m in the south of Austria. Close to the Hungarian border. Where Lila resides😁

          1. Anna Plyance says:

So far none of them stand out as possible narcissists, you would be far more likely to find them on my side of the room, so to speak. They listen very well, though it never hurts to repeat myself three times. Usually they react to the movement of my hands, as you would expect of any choir.
Seriously, though, choir singing is not really suited to cater to a narcissist’s needs, which might be one of the reasons why HG no longer does it, apart from the practical difficulties his lifestyle brings.
Conducting, on the other hand, is pretty much a narcissist’s dream. Everybody is looking at you, when you lift your finger, you get an immediate reaction, oodles of fuel, and you can even blame the musicians for a poor performance.

          2. Jordyguin says:

Love it! Conductors are cool. Loved watching them and following their orders. They create magical results. True, it must be a narcissist’s dream. Though my mom was an excellent conductor during her music studies/careers, she is a hell of an empath.

Do you have a favorite piece you’re conducting?

And what’s your favorite HG article or series??

          3. Anna Plyance says:

There are too many articles I like to name them all, but one favourite is the Questioning Me thread, for the sheer variety of topics, and it is always interesting to get HG’s perspective on things. I also like the Asylum of the Grotesque series.
I do not have a single favourite piece of music on my list, although there are several that I would like to do if I ever had the right musicians for it. I work with amateurs, so there is a limit to what is possible. But even with professional singers you need a certain calibre of voice to do justice to pieces from other areas of the world. You are not very likely to find a bass in our part of Europe of the type that are a dime a dozen in Russia, for example.
The best experiences are those occasions where I get goose bumps from the performance as well as numbers that really get everybody rocking. Enough of me, though.
HG, is there a piece of music you would particularly like to conduct (and why did you not stop me sooner from boring the pants off you in this way)? One, or all, of your own maybe? Which performers would you like to have performing under you and follow your every command?

          4. HG Tudor says:

            I do not conduct orchestras.

          5. Anna Plyance says:

HG says: “I do not conduct orchestras.” Yes. Of course there are others beside orchestras you could conduct and in a way you are conducting plenty of other things already, but would you ever WANT to conduct an orchestra or any other music ensemble, HG?

          6. HG Tudor says:

            No.

          7. Anna Plyance says:

Thank you, HG. See, that did not hurt at all.

          8. HG Tudor says:

There is no need to be patronising.

          9. Jordyguin says:

Anna, okay let’s say we get you some ’russian dimes’, which would be the first one you’d pick?
Let’s say accompanying Asylum of the Grotesque series (your favorite peace)?

          10. Anna Plyance says:

            Jordyguin,
after I wrote and deleted my answer several times, I have come to the conclusion that I would rather not clutter this space any further with my personal interests than I already have and leave it for HG, before his eyes stay permanently crossed.
I will say this: If you want to hear some special bass, the Oktavism Channel on Youtube is a good starting point.
HG, thank you for indulging me so patiently.
