My ex would talk about his first love (not his first) who was 15 years younger, a college student. After seven years of no contact, he would stalk her on social media as I caught him looking at her FB page once. I thought it was odd, but I excused his oddness frequently.
He told me he wanted to marry her and have a family. Of course, he told me he no longer wanted her, she had let herself go, ya know, gotten fat, etc. She discarded him.

HG, is the obsession greater if the narc is the one discarded?

He would say, I can’t understand why she didn’t want me . . . she’s was to blame for him not being able to love or have intimacy completely blah blah blah.
I’m secure. I would say, if you can’t get over her, I desire to move on to someone who is not obsessed with the love of their life. He would say he was over her. Because she called him a loser. I filed that.

Narcs really do think their conquests are chattel. They own us forever.

Fast forward, the last time we texted, I called him a loser. I stuck the knife in and wounded him . . . Of course I received a barrage of texts, which I didn’t read . . . I’m sure they were about my imperfections. One I did spot wherein he called me the loser. When he was finished, I texted him and told him I didn’t read any if them. He was probably relieved becuz then he attempted to entice me back into his life.
Yes, never bring up his ex, his possession . . .

It is more likely going to result in that, yes.

You mean if you escape – potentially yes, depends on the narcissist’s fuel matrix at the point of escape, where you fit into that matrix and the school of the narcissist. A Lesser who is about to disengage from you as the IPPS and has one waiting in the wings would be less obsessed. A Greater who is about to disengage form you as the IPPS and has a ready replacement on hand will be more likely to have a malice obsession to punish you, if there is no IPPS waiting and he can turn to various IPSSs, the malice obsession would be even greater.
