I got involved in politics and just got smeared by a politician (whom I am not involved with romantically.) Your book was very helpful.
I was amazed that people I have worked closely with for over 5 years believed them. Even tho I am much better prepared than the people who smeared me (professionally speaking my profile is stronger so I am blown away that they believed them.)
I am right now just presenting evidence and stating clearly: “I know you are a critical thinker. here is the evidence that they lied and are incorrect. I know you have the capacity to make good decisions…”
I need to not be emotional about this. But it was very hard. Especially the people who knew me for years. To have them believe the lies and put me in a box I am not.
This is the second time I am smeared. the first was with my midranger. He turned all my friends against me.
But, I realized that I grew a lot thanks to the smear campaign. I no longer care what people think. I am also now more aggressive in how I present myself. The second smear campaign presented myself as a naive bimbo that was manipulated by a politiant. They did this to remove my agency. SO I had to present myself super strong and even way more potent. It worked. I just got some new and better collaborations because of how I sold myself.

BTW Great book HG. It was very helpful to keep my cool and plan strategies.
My favorite part of the book was just thinking that the people that followed the narc, the turncoats, are bad. They are like a foot with cancer that is better to cut off to save myself. It’s hard. But it is better to understand the truth.
