Dearest HG: I perceive that the description Quite is different in American English than in British English. When we say Quite, it is stronger than what we mean when we say Very. It seems that Very is Stronger than Quite in British English, however. Because of you, I use Very more than Quite, but Quite actually feels better to me to use, meaning wise. But, now I say very, when it applies to you.
