FM1T, I missed all of the gift card talk. Is there a reason you won’t use PayPal? You could set up a PayPal account and attach it to a separate bank account/email address that is only use for this site. When you want to donate or purchase something, you can just transfer the amount into your account and pay with PayPal. Or instead of purchasing new gift cards, can you reload the existing card?
I keep reading about invoices and gift cards. I’ve always used PayPal. Makes me wonder if I should be cautious of something.
Those who use PayPal are able to do so swiftly, conveniently and securely. People may use gift cards but there appear to be compatibility issues between them and PayPal. There is no point asking me about it because it is an issue with regard to the type of card selected and PayPal. However, if you use PayPal in the usual way, you will not have any issues.
I’m sorry HG I cannot use PayPal in the usual way, which I thought you understood by the information you gain from my consults with you? It doesn’t matter I’m done trying.
I know you cannot, the point I was making however is that the usual way is the one which does not cause any problems.
Hi mercy…some are using gift cards for privacy reasons so it wont show up on a paypal bill. I havent found any issues using a visa gift card.
Thank you HG and Chi, I was just wondering if there was a security issue with PayPal that I wasn’t aware of. I’ve never had problems so I was confused. For those that don’t have a bank account hooked up to PayPal for privacy issues, FYI you don’t have to receive a paper bill. You can view all of your transaction online and through a private email. Just a suggestion for anyone looking for an alternative.
Mercy, I have zero concerns of anyone seeing a bill so no worries there. Virtually everyone I know knows I read HG and respect his work and openly speak about it to all. I am more concerned with data privacy in general and practice caution accordingly.
Mercy, I should also say I agree with you regarding PayPay, it is an excellent choice. If any one worries about a N accessing their computer, you can use a fingerprint access or you can simply require standard log in for every access (use a unique password) and you would have excellent privacy from that perspective.
That’s what I always use Chi., the Visa gift card. I think FUC was correct and it is whoever is issuing the cards that makes the difference.

Hi Mercy, I hope you don’t mind the intrusion. I don’t think you have anything to worry about. I also use a separate PayPal and I fund it with gift cards and have not had a problem with this method. The more I read about the meta analysis of all of our available data (and those who have access to it), I am pretty sure privacy is dead anyway, but one can still make an effort not to feed the beast.
FYC, of course I don’t mind your comment. Speaking of our available online data, there was a couple years that the ex N and I used messenger as our main way to communicate. I’ve been wanting to delete the thread but there’s too much evidence in those conversations. On Monday I researched getting my online info from FB. I did not realize you can download all of your FB activity. Every pic, comment, like, conversation can be downloaded. It took me 10 minutes to get a file. It was eye opening that every key stroke we make can be saved and we are unaware of it.
Hi Mercy, Exactly. Every key stroke. And then there is your meta data from photos and any permissions you give to apps such as location, camera, sound, keystroke entry etc. (I strongly urge everyone to review their current settings as many are not opt in they are opt out.) FB and Google and MS and Apple (and others) keep your data, forever. That includes any email, video, VoIP, messaging, photo, attachment, and accompanying its meta data you send or keep on their cloud. Your data is then analyzed and used to create a meta data profile that you never see even if you request it. Further they own your data residing on their cloud. While this may not seem important, consider this data in the hands of a N. What might they do with your data? Or a hacker (likely an N–lack of empathy, lack of boundary recognition, entitlement, lack of accountability). Privacy is a human right and needs provision for protection, but the opposite offers too much control to those who desire it as well as tremendous profit and power. Of course there are legitimate reasons to access data (crime prevention/apprehension), but a good portion of data access is not for such reasons and instead is used to manipulate, influence or control you. Sounds a lot like HG’s warning that a N gathers as much data as possible before his approach to gain your trust, then manipulate or malign. The same can be done with all of your data by those who have full access.
FYC, with all of this technology, you would think they could figure out a way to frost the whole Pop Tart! Seriously what is that about?
I’ve been thinking alot about what you wrote lately. The way technology changes so often it’s hard to keep up with your settings and for those of us who are just casual users, it’s very confusing knowing how to set securities. I think cloud is useful in some things but I prefer to have files I can save externally for the important stuff. Just like the file I was telling you about from Facebook. Now I have to figure out how to convert it to a PDF. As of now, it’s a web base file.

If you want edit before creating the pdf, copy all and paste to word, edit then print/save to pdf.

FM1T, User error is the story of my life! I wasn’t aware of the reasoning. I was just asking in case there was a security issue. I’m sorry you’re having issues. I wish I had a solution but I’m sure you’ve tried everything I could suggest. Technical issues are problems I have a hard time letting go of until I figure out a solution. Something so logical and simple should work but I’ve found that’s not always the case.

FYC I used it last evening to order from amazon. I’ll try anything! I honestly think it has to do with who or where that are issued from. I still have a few dollars on my original and I’m waiting for HG to put something out there for $4.00. I should just have him invoice me and try it, if it works he can give it to the angels. That way I would know what the problem is. I’m sorry for going on about this but really breaks my heart not to be able to help the Angel assistance fund.

Just my thoughts on the credit card/gift card issues.
I understand people exercising caution, especially those new and wondering if they should even BE on a website run by a narcissist, much less be using a credit card on it, and there are also other concerns ie: the purchase showing on a credit card statement, etc. I used gift cards myself (and still do as I am often given them), but it states right on the Paypal site that your financial information is not provided to the retailer, and really, I’d be more concerned about those sketchy call centres we provide our details online and by telephone everywhere to. From online shopping to banking, local food and craft fairs and booking trips, we don’t know anything about the people employed in those call centres that we rattle off our information to. Get a low limit card for online stuff- you aren’t responsible if you’re the victim of fraud anyway. I get caution, but your card and information is more protected here than when we literally opened our doors and lives to the con men and women who brought us here to begin with.
It still comes down to personal choice and I respect that. That’s all.

I will re-iterate again, I do not see your financial information, I have no interest in your person information and all information is treated in confidence and has never been breached.
I do understand where people do not want their purchases showing in case the narcissist discovers the purchase. I should point out that if you ask me (and I have provided different descriptions (school books for some reason are a favourite) , I will invoice you for a service and call it something else, for instance Butter My Buns Bakery Delivery.

I am forever greatful for the anonymous giver who donated the Coparenting Package to me. I felt beyond blessed that someone would do that for me without meeting me in person. I am currently listening to it for the second time.
I am also thankful HG allowed me to use some of the Angel Fund to discount a half hour consultation with him. Where we discussed my litigations with the narc., and how I was afraid of losing hearings because it may fuel the narc. HG, assured me that even though it would fuel a narcissist with a temporary win, it’s worth it for an Empath to press on and strategize.

They are the same that I always purchase and I have used them so I know they are activated, but now they will not work to pay your invoice? If they are not good for international use then they would not have worked all of these years, since I’m pretty sure the UK has always been where it is today? Ugh! Yes I did notice that FYC and it was a different issuer, so I went back to the store and bought the exact same kind I always do and it also wouldn’t work! Oh I’m so angry and frustrated, but I’ll figure out some way to help support HG and the Angel!

One cashier told me recently that I would have to wait 24 hours after purchase for the card to be activated. No one else mentioned that and I never previously waited 24 hours, so I wasn’t sure if she was mistaken or I had been lucky. In any case, that might be the issue and it being Christmas there is a backlog for activations? Maybe try waiting the 24 and try again.
I thought the same thing NA. I called the number on the card and they told me I had to register the card if I was going to use it online. I registered it and tried again and it still didn’t work. So I went to the store and bought something, used the card to pay and it worked. So now I just don’t know? Thanks NA I don’t know why they just can’t let well enough alone. Ugh
