Re: question 7. The book: Gaslighting: The Narcissist’s favorite tool of Manipulation by Dr.Theresa J. Covert was published last summer and it discusses how we pick up narcissistic fleas.

There is a lot of misinformation out there and it is very frustrating.

    1. HG Tudor says:

Indeed K and it is necessary to correct these rampant inaccuracies.

  2. Bistra says:

Thank you for the answers, HG🙂! I just bought the material so I am going to learn more today and enhance my knowledge🙂
I did the quiz twice and whilst I was not happy with my results, I was not tempted to try again and again just to obtain a higher score.
It is a pointless exercise because the idea of this quiz is to test one’s current knowledge in a relaxed manner .
Not to try manipulating the answers in order to obtain a higher score so you have a good self- esteem boost. Dare I say, an ego boost.
What’s the point to score 95 /100 and then the next day texting back enthusiastically to the Narc or sobbing in the restrooms at work because your Lesser boss belittled you again or took a credit for your great work.

It never ceases to amaze me why some readers expect to obtain all materials for free. Do they work for free for their employers?
If you want to drive your car , you pay the rego. If you study in a Uni , you buy the textbooks or other relevant material related to your course even if you had obtained a scholarship that covers the tuition fees
$5 is a cup of coffee in Starbucks.
    No more comments.

P.S. Nice combo, very stylish and polished. 👍🏻

    1. HG Tudor says:

      Well stated, Bistra.

    2. E. B. says:

This is the first time I see your username. I do not know if you are new to the blog or if you are using a new name.

I have just read your comment posted above. Since you mentioned parts of my posts, I realized you were referring to me in those parts.

I hear you saying that you assume that:

-I manipulated the answers because I wanted to obtain a high score.
-If I had a high score, I could have a good self-esteem boost.
-If I had a high score, I could have an ego boost.
-After getting a high score, “on the next day I will be texting back enthusiastically to the Narc or sobbing in the restrooms at work because my Lesser boss belittled me again or took a credit for my work”.

I would like to ask you the following questions:

1-Are you stating the above as your own opinion or are you stating that as a fact?
2-How did you come to the conclusion that those are my real motives for re-taking the quiz without asking me about them first?

I have been reading and learning about projection and it would be helpful if you could give me an honest answer.

    3. E. B. says:

I have not received your answers to any of my questions.
You hid behind a new pseudonym to speak badly about me and other readers, to change the meaning of a joke I had made, to assign motives which are not mine – and that other readers may not have.
You deny me and others the possibility to discuss your judgements by adding “No more comments” and by ignoring questions.
I found it interesting that you dare to do that in a blog about narcissism.

      1. NarcAngel says:

I received Bistra’s comment differently. I heard her saying that she took the quiz more than once and then realized getting a higher score (for herself, although this realization may also apply to others) was not the point – that the focus should merely be to see how much she had absorbed to this point. That getting a higher score on subsequent tries might make one feel better or give an ego boost, but would not ultimately aid in real life interaction with narcs if the material is not being absorbed naturally. I understood the “no comment” to mean that she was finished making her own observations – not that she was closing down others. I did not see it as directed at you at all but rather a matter of interpretation.

        1. E. B. says:

I can see you have not read what I had written in another article (not on this one) that was used by that reader to make her judgements.

I can see you came to a conclusion based on her comment alone – and ignored mine.

I go to people directly when I have a concern and prefer not to involve others.
I respect their decision when they do not want to speak to me directly and deal with conflict.

        Dear Mr Tudor,
I was sure that was you, especially the hands
        Well there you go
        Never assume 🤣

Took the quiz for “fun” But approached it in a level headed manner .. Got 45 them tried again 25 forget it.!!.ore than one answer questions or one is more important than the other… smh 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

  5. T says:

    oh dear….

This is proof that NO EMPATH can afford to EVER take respite from HG, his blog, his books, his brilliance….

    I got 30!!!!

I’ve pretty much read his whole library and got lazy to tell you the truth…….I thought I knew it all….

As soon as I got smug and lazy…another (probable) Narcissist got through….and this one might be more dangerous than any other one that has wrecked my life.

Ladies (and gentlemen), it takes time and effort to NOT default back to your default reactions when dealing with Narcissists.

A hard head makes a soft behind….words of wisdom from my lovely mother….

    1. FoolMe1Time says:

Welcome home T! I’m glad you learned enough to realize it was time to come back. You just need a little refresher course that’s all. Now myself on the other hand will be here forever! 😘

      1. T says:

It’s good to be back. (Wish the circumstances were better)

Only survivors can understand this; so don’t feel bad because you’re a lifer.

        Tbh; we are all “lifers”.

Because be it 5 months or 5 years…..we will be facing the same situation again.

We’ll need each other and HG to help us deal with it.❤️

        1. FoolMe1Time says:

So true in all that you wrote. We are addicted, then, now, and forever! As long as there are people like you, HG, and this place, we will all have a safe place to come back to! 😘💞

          1. Bubbles 🍾 says:

Dearest T (lovely to see you) and dearest FoolMe,
I have to agree with you both wholeheartedly
We are susceptible and always vulnerable
Letting one’s guard down, even for a second, is fraught with danger
I feel narcissiscm has become more refined and sophisticated, it can be difficult to spot the fake in a short period
We will always have to work harder and it becomes increasingly weary and exhausting always being on guard
This is a safe landing spot
            Luv Bubbles xx 😘

  6. mommypino says:

So happy I got this. Really informative. Now I know the reason I was stuck at 80 and 75 was because I was wrong with 11,12,18 and 19. I thought I was sure with 12 and 18 so I wasn’t changing it and I was changing my correct answer instead which was my correct answers instead. I tried to change 11 also but I never got the right answer.

    1. mommypino says:

I really need to start proofreading.

    2. HG Tudor says:

As ever, knowledge is the key and judging by the belly-aching which has gone on with regard to that particular quiz, quite a few others need to avail themselves of the answers MP!

      1. K says:

There has been quite a bit of belly-aching and it’s fascinating!

      2. mommypino says:

They really have to! The explanations were very informative. I knew a lot of the answers already because you have mentioned them before in my Detector consults and some in your audio logic bulletins. But the explanations in this answer key totally makes even the things that I already knew even more clear.

        1. blackcoffee30 says:

There was one answer that completely blew my mind, not what I expected. It made sense once explained. Can’t wait for me ED results!

          1. mommypino says:

The explanations are awesome. I love that even the incorrect answers have explanations on why they are not the correct answer. The explanation on Creed got me laughing.

  7. smarinucci1970 says:

Yes I want the answers yes I need the answers but why can’t I have the answers without having to pay for it I’ve paid dearly with my life already well not now maybe sometime thank you HD

    1. HG Tudor says:

I provide a large amount of my expertise and time for free. Some of it requires payment, just like any other expert.

      1. smarinucci1970 says:

I know HG I’m sorry ,,at the moment when I was looking at my Tablet, narcissist that I’ve tried to make no contact with for the past year he was at my front door he was banging on my window and I could hear him from the other room , I didn’t want to open the window again and deal with that ..yesterday was Mother’s Day and my husband told me on the wedding day we will never have children and I always wanted to be a mommy and Mother’s Day is always hard for me for years I couldn’t even go into a store and look at little booties and little toys and little shirts without crying now I’m finally middle-aged it doesn’t affect me so deeply but Mother’s Day is very hard and the narcissist was out on my porch banging ,he put a card in my mailbox yesterday it wasn’t even a Mother’s Day card it wasl black and it said I was his soulmate he told me he didn’t believe in soulmates.. it was a little tiny card. He used to give me big cards he said I was a mom to my animals & buy me roses I didn’t even get a weed I was glad yesterday I wanted to be left alone but all day kept on thinking about the black card wasn’t even a Hallmark and so when I heard the banging out there I probably print it out to you what my thoughts were, yes I would like something free for a change when I made my money I gave it all away I had so much fun giving it away now I can’t do that anymore everything is bothering me now I have a hiatal hernia and it’s killing me and the procedure was put off another month and I’m still healing from my two total hip replacements , my blood circulation is not so good in the feet are turning purple I got a lot going and I’m trying to stay positive I’m very sorry and I’m sorry to all of you I didn’t mean to be selfish please forgive me thank you .

        1. HG Tudor says:

There is no need to apologise.

          1. smarinucci1970 says:

        2. Ashley says:

Awwwww I hope you feel better soon. 😢 I hope when you get your procedure matters improve. 💖💖

        3. Violetta says:

I melt over little booties and onesies too. Ironic, how people who don’t value kids seem to have them quite readily.

        4. WhoCares says:

I’m sorry to hear your current pain is being compounded by numerous other things.

The little black card was a nasty thing to do, actually, on Mother’s Day. If it were me I would have simply transported that straight to the circular filing cabinet.

Wishing you less painful days ahead ♥️

        5. FoolMe1Time says:

          Aww sm1970,
I think we all have those days that the only thing we want it to do is end! It seems it is just one thing after another until we explode! I hope things start getting better for you soon dear. 🥰

        6. MommyPino says:

I hope you feel better soon. Sending you positive thoughts and wishing you well in your journey through recovering from the narc entanglement. 🦋💕

          1. MommyPino says:

And belated Happy Mother’s Day to you! I’m sure that your animals truly felt that you were a wonderful mom to them. The narcissist can’t change that fact even if he stopped saying it now. Take care always. ❤️

          2. Violetta says:

MP is right. There is more than one way to be a mother, and you don’t need to be the same species or even female:

Now that I think of it, Fred the Labrador is probably doing a better job as a mother than a lot of biological mothers. Plenty of Tudorites can attest to that, as can our charming host.

          3. mommypino says:

That’s such an adorable picture Violetta!! Thank you for sharing! 😊

I remember I saw a trend on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day where people are including mother figures and father figures in the greetings. Being a mom or dad goes beyond just giving birth or impregnating someone and keeping your kids alive.

          4. Violetta says:

Fred the Labrador is apparently nurturing his second brood of ducklings, including taking them swimming.

    2. I understand SM. We all like things which are free but if you’d had a hard day and fancied a glass of wine, you couldn’t expect to go to a bar and the barman to give it to you for free. This is a business and HG gives us a mammoth amount of information for free.

      1. smarinucci1970 says:

Aw come on have a heart don’t everybody jump on me for one little thing come on and if I wanted that glass of wine I wouldn’t go to a bar I have wine beer Scotch brandy champagne whatever in my own home I don’t have to go out looking for it ,it was paid for some were gifts some of it my dead husband bought years ago but it’s here I don’t have to go out looking for it so don’t jump on me nobody knows what I’ve been through nobody cares nobody cares it’s ok when you joke around and tease Hg Wow ! NOBODY KNOWS WHAT I WAS FEELING AT THAT TIME SO GIVE ME A BREAK AS I DO YOU VERY OFTEN . I NEVER RIPE ANYONE’S COMMENTS ON THIS TOPIC , MAYBE I SHOULD START . NO it’s not worth it , I’m not here to play games . THANKS again Hg.

        1. alexissmith2016 says:

No one was jumping on you SM, I’m sorry you feel that way, it certainly wasn’t anyone’s intention. Just a valid point that we can’t expect HG to give us everything for free. As much as I will always cheekily try to. So no need to take it to heart or feel it was personal. It’s important for wvwryone to realise we are receiving in my humble opinion very expert advice for not much cost at all

        2. Violetta says:

I rarely purchase, SM. My job was on the line even before Covid. I’ve read much of the articles here, and listened to a fair amount of YouTube vids, but there’s a lot of material still to get through

I did buy the Narc at Work because I figure I’m going to need that one, not just for coping with work narcs but for getting the job in the first place. The person you actually work with may not be narcy at all, but Human Resources is chock full of nasty mid-rangers who love to reject applicants because of personality quirks, no matter how competent they are, comfortable in the assumption that what all departments need is perky, upbeat mediocrities just like themselves. (It’s an old book, but The Organization Man gives a pretty scathing assessment of their dimestore psychology routines.)

Creative departments frequently detest HR for that reason, but depending on the company, you may have to get past HR before you meet with any executives.

          1. Whitney says:

You are so amazing and interesting Violetta. You would be such an asset at any job. You can do any job you like, or start your own work. Do whatever is fulfilling for you.

          2. Violetta says:

Whitney, thank you for having confidence in me, but I need to censor myself.

          3. Leigh says:

I’ve worked in HR for years and we really do have such a bad reputation. Everybody hates us, lol. We have to be the police and nobody likes the police. HR professionals do have some power so I can see why a narcissist would want to be in that position. We aren’t all bad though. I try to keep an open mind and treat everyone the same..

Its ironic, In my case, I find the opposite to be true. I think the managers are all mid rangers and I’m constantly fighting a battle I can’t win.

The truth is that me being in HR is one of the main reasons I was targeted by my ex narc. He wanted HR to have his back. It definitely was a residual benefit for him and met one of his Prime Aims.

          4. Sweetest Perfection says:

Violetta, you will get a job. I know things are pretty much stopped in the hiring process right now but not all the people in HR and administrative roles are narcs. And you want to find a perfect fit and one that values your talent and wit! If they haven’t seen that, they don’t deserve to work with you anyway. Keep your resilience and determination. 💓

          5. Violetta says:

They definitely aren’t all like that. It’s like working with children: along with the really inspired coaches, scout leaders, and teachers, you’ll get predators who are there for all the wrong reasons.

I remember one HR staff member who was actually fantastic at explaining things like benefit plans (many people who are otherwise intelligent freeze like a deer in headlights when it comes to picking insurance). The two middle managers I worked most with referred to her as “Catbert,” but of course, they were the narcs. I wouldn’t have identified them as such in those days, but when I asked my immediate supervisor about the conflicting instructions they were giving me, he said, “I wondered when you would come to me about them. ..” He advised me to treat them as if they were a pair of mad dogs: avoid them whenever possible, and ask my coworkers about procedures.

          6. Whitney says:

You need to censor yourself Violetta? Do your own thing or something you agree with!

I can’t work at jobs because I can’t handle everyone repeating cult mantra, deadbrained dull people, managers who interfere, Narcissists who managers are scared of, practises that are at odds with my beliefs for human nature, societies normalisation of abandoning the infant, caging yourself with strangers in most of your waking hours, yet not savouring the money. Spending the money materialistically, which is a representation of your time and life.

          7. lisk says:

Are you looking into doing anything remote as a self-employed person? Tutoring composition via Zoom meetings, for example?

It is AMAZING how much fun and how effective is to work with people via screen share.

          8. Leigh says:

I was just texting a manager who I believe is a mid Range narcissist. He wanted to have one of his employees show proof that her their mother died. This employee just lost their mother and to top it off her mother lives in another state. He wants me to ask for proof because he knows she won’t have it and then he can fire her. Seriously! Not gonna happen! Its sad. No compassion or empathy at all.

I did have one HR DIrector that was definitely a narc. I can see it now. I always had to clean up her messes.

I never realized how many narcs were in the workplace until I found this site. Your boss was right and what a great description. Mad dog is perfect! That’s what some of them act like, mad dogs!

          9. Violetta says:

There might be a death notice in a local paper (even small town papers are online these days) or an online obituary run by the funeral home, but the real question is whether the manager has a right to demand such proof.

          10. Leigh says:

Violetta, yes, we have the right to ask but it’s not very sympathetic and it’s bad business. The other employees will look at the company like we aren’t very understanding. It makes the whole company look bad. This is just one example of how I constantly have to clean up the messes these narc mangers make.

Ugh! These narcs seem to be everywhere.

You are correct though, the key is too get in good with HR. It will help you get your foot in the door.

          11. Violetta says:

I was teaching online classes as well as face-to-face with F.U. It was fun until they started micromanaging it as well as inflicting the new interface on us. Ate RAM like candy and the students and instructors had to carry the broadband.

I don’t know about teaching online again. It might be different if I freelance, but I miss the energy of a face-to-face classroom. Of course with Covid, remote teaching might be the wave of the future. On the other hand, I want benefits and some security, so getting a government job might be best.

I think the main thing is I didn’t want to promote the diploma mill F.U. was becoming. If I followed their guidelines, I wouldn’t be able to teach the students the things they’d have to know if they wanted to get their grants funded, their proposals approved, or even their resumes passed up the next level. When I told some NYC friends the pedagogical theories and practices the school was emphasizing, to the exclusion of the stuff they’d actually need to work in actual health care, legal, financial, or corporate offices, they pinched up their faces and shook their heads. Even people in the performing arts have usually had a day job at some point in one of these sectors, and they know that stuff doesn’t fly.

        3. Renarde says:

Alexis really wasnt jumping on you at all. She is making a valid point.

          This isnt a pile-on btw.

Keep on posting here. A lot of the regulars will help but more detailed consultations should really lie with the expert.

I’m not really sure what question you are asking. But yes, the card was a Hoover. At least a test one. It was excuted successfully as you opened it and are now ruminating on its contents.

Next time, pop it in the bin unopened or better, give it to someone else to destroy.

          Certainly, destroy it now.

Hope that helps. I’m sorry Mother’s Day was tough.

        4. lisk says:

I give you a break, smarinucci1970. I see where you are coming from, even though I don’t know the details.

Sometimes we just need a break.

      2. lisk says:

And even when the barman gives you something for free, it’s most likely because you’ve been tipping hugely.

At least HG does not play that.

    3. Sweetest Perfection says:

Dear Smarinucci, I feel sad you had to go through that and you have that pain inside. I would like to ask permission from HG to send you the answers to the Empath test from me and also a copy for myself since it is my birthday and we both deserve a gift. I hope you accept it and that it helps you feel a little better, even in the aberrant circumstances we are going through.

      1. Renarde says:

        You are so kind!

        1. Sweetest Perfection says:

Renarde, I usually go incognito as I don’t want to make anyone feel bad or to give the impression I am trying to seem nice in a petty public manner, but this time I wanted smarinuci to feel the love in the blog. I can’t imagine the crashing feelings she had inside on Mother’s Day.

          1. Renarde says:

            I know. Black card? Jesus.

      2. mommypino says:
