Up to now I read about 12 of HG’s brilliant books and for me “Sex and the Narcissist” was the most important one to understand my ExNarcs and myself and I think narcissism in general. I reread it twice and again certain sections. When I first read the last part about devaluation it had a strong effect on my emotional side, it really was pulling me down. Never experienced something like that before. But a few days afterwards I felt so much stronger because now I was/ I am able to understand. And to protect myself.
My father is a Narcissist, he is not my father but my Patrinarc…
The last sentence in this book sends a wave of icy dread through my body, assaulting my senses with a shiver of revulsion that makes my muscles tense in a way which can only be described as self-preservation.
It feels absolutely delightful, because this is the exact reaction it was intended to evoke!
Thanks to HG’s visceral, unflinching honesty, I will never again find myself in bed with a monster….and neither will anyone who braves this glance into the mind of a narcissist.
