Do you think a women who only had friends growing up that were pretty and as an adult will only date attractive men is a narcissist?
One cannot make a determination from that piece of evidence. The behaviour is a narcissistic indicator but one would need to look at more behaviours.
I like many of Hozier’s songs. I enjoy the music and enjoy the lyrics even more. Hozier’s lyrics have a deeper meaning to them than most pop songs.
I recently heard his song called “Why Would You Be Loved.”
I find it interesting. It asks why a person would be loving if being loving is transient or difficult or based on uncertain things like hope or trust.
And, equally, on the other hand, why would a person expect to be loved when they themselves are not willing to be loving.
Some of the lyrics are:
Why would you play it all on something as hollow as trust,
What if you gave it all to find that it wasn’t enough?
What if under the gaze of them, you come short when the going gets rough?
Why would you be loving?
Why would you be loving?
Why would you be loving?
And, hey, why would you be loved?
Why would you be loved?
It makes me think that, generally, people expect others to be loving or kind or dependable or respectful when they themselves are not willing to do the same.
@Dani,
(I am leaving this here because I did try to comment on ‘Questioning Me’ – but there is really no way to know if my comment will show up on that ginormous thread)
“It would be interesting to have a short series of videos with you detailing the reactions of different schools of narcissist to huge amounts of challenge fuel…”
Excellent suggestion, Dani. Clearly, HG thought so as well, given the new short series on his Narcissism and Psychopathy channel.
