I’d like to add that I’m happy the “Evil” flaming heart is gone myself. So I can relate a little bit, but it won’t keep me from devouring all that is HG. Learning is what crushes fear.

I always thought that there was a purpose and meaning to the heart flame and evil. More then the apparent incitement of fear.
I thought abit more about the V being more meaningful, there are three ( as there are sides to a a triangle ) One In the word evil, and two highlighted in the heart flames a lighter brighter gold yellow. I thought it may link to HG as holy grail, a kind of narrative identity.
The quest!
( or I just need to stop thinking.. as probably epically wrong… lol.. I have not read anything about this topic of discussion as yet, so apologies if it has already been a subject covered)
I believe that there is a didactic tone throughout HG’s work, not only the articles and books, but the symbolism and points of reference also. I believe it all has meaning, purposeful meaning.
Saying that I do like the sleek new banner – trying to work out if there is a symbolic meaning to this one… the flames continuing theme, burning away the old, pheonix rising from the ashes ? Could be so many ! Or none and it just looks good ..
I agree with you Quasi. HG is quite sophisticated. He’s always many steps ahead of us. I think that’s why I get more out of his work each time I re-read it. The first time, you take it at face value, but there are layers as you delve deeper. Thats what makes him such an excellent author.
I would love to read a novel written by him. It would be one of those where there are many tells, right under your nose that you don’t see and then it all comes together in a massive climax. Then you spend hours reliving and absorbing the plot and the characters and how he duped you into believing one thing, when something entirely different was going on. Oh yeah, I guess he would be really good at that! Lotsa life experience to draw on there.

Funny story…I told my mother that ‘Fuel’ was a must-read for her. She wouldn’t read it because of the cover! It creeped her out. Believe it!
